In reality there is not a giver and a receiver, in an exchange both beings are in both roles. We are in ego mode when we identify ourselves in being on one side or the other. Next time you find yourself in a situation where you see yourself as the helper or as the helpee (yes it is a word), ask both questions - what am I giving and what am I receiving.
