This means you never see things the way they are, rather you see things the way you expect to see them. You superimpose your expectations, which skews your perception to support your belief.
If you hate the city you live in you will find countless incidents of trash or violence to back that up, whereas if you love living where you do, you will be more likely to notice things like plants or flowers or the friendliness of neighbors. Your beliefs and expectations are creating your perceptions, which in turn are creating your reality.
